Washington’s bass community flocked from the PNW to attend this years 5th annual Bass Academy, which was presented by Seattle based USC Events. The event took place at the historic Tacoma Dome and due to the successful deployment of last years show, PK Sound was specified to again power the dance floor with their signature sound system.

FOH Technician Rory Stewart deployed the following Main PA:
• 12/side Trinity Main Arrays Left & Right
• 40x PK CX800 Subwoofer deployed as a solid sub wall, 5 zone cardioid configuration
• 6x PK VX10 compact Line Array Front Fills
• DigiCo SD9 Console at FOH
• Lake LM26 System Processing
• PK Kontrol Loudspeaker Management Software
The stage monitoring system consisted of:
• 3/side VX10 compact array over 1/side CX800 Subwoofer for DJ monitors
• 6x PK SW215 Stage Wedges
• 1x DigiCo SD11 Console
PK’s patented 3D Wave Front Control was implemented to help avoid secondary reflections and reverberations in the room. Tacoma Dome roof shape and vast overhead volume leads to loud echos which can muddy the sound. Being able to focus the initial sound wave from the speakers directly onto the audience area only meant less unwanted sound was bouncing around the room and roof area, leading to a clean and highly intelligible sound.

The entire room and its eager crowd were saturated in well tuned high-end, as well as deep, clear, rumbling bass for the duration of the show. Headroom was saved for the the closing act and main attraction Zomboy, who offered a shout out to PK over the PA which caused an immense, collective roar from the attendees. This event would certainly not have been the same without the dedication and care that is put into the PK products, technologies and show time operation.
