A long time in the making, PK Sound's arrival in Victoria could best be described as a booming good time. Feeding Victoria's appetite and love of great production and sound, PK Victoria was welcomed by bass lovers across the capital city during their kick off launch hosted by DLD Productions at Rehab Nightclub on May 9th, 2013.
With no tickets sold in advance, festivities got rolling at 9pm as Party People Sound Solution's own Primitive welcomed the first through the door early in the evening to hear and feel the weight of Victoria's first permanent PK Sound installation. A positive vibe to the pulsating room, the energy was electric as Primitive wrapped up his funky vibes and left Outsider to take over the decks with a throwback Drum and Bass set. Leaving even the hardest of Jungalists with lighters in the air, Outsider gave the subs a good flex as the dance floor filled and the jubilant crowd shuffled their feet to the riddems.
PK Victoria Launches With a Bang
Kicking off the second half of the evening was DJ Generic; a familiar face if you frequent any of DLD Production's weekly shows. Playing his usual mash of everything from Trap to Dubstep, with a variety of tempos and styles in between, Generic literally had the room sweating, as the sold out crowd didn't hold back in showing their excitement. Numerous times throughout the night chants of "PK, PK!" could be heard echoing through the crowd.
PK Victoria Launches With a Bang
There wouldn't be anyone more fitting to close PK Victoria's first show than to have one of PK Vic's big bosses finishing the evening behind the decks; DJ Anger. Closing the evening with a high energy set that pulled influences from across the bass spectrum, Anger left grins and smiles on those who stayed until the lights came on. With the usual post-lights on crowd lingering about and catching up on the night's events, it was a monumental moment for the capital's bass community. Just the first in many forthcoming bass nights for Victoria, it was safe to say that PK Sound's arrival in Victoria was a positive success. PK Victoria has arrived; basslines a'thumpin and subs a'bumpin.
